The Brief

Fan Flag

Tsogo Sun is the official accommodation partner for the Springboks, and they asked us to help communicate their partnership in a big and memorable way. They required an exciting activation and all of the appropriate messaging to communicate the partnership and activation, which ranged from billboards and print ads to POS, mailers and social media.

The Solution

Fan Flag

In order to generate hype around the Rugby World Cup as well as the partnership, we proposed the ‘Fan Flag’ activation. It encouraged people to visit a participating Tsogo Sun property and wish the Boks well by writing good-luck messages on a piece of material. Once signed, these pieces of material would be sewn together to form a massive flag that would be presented to the team before departing for the tournament in England. Fans were also encouraged to take pictures of themselves at the activation and post them, together with the #BokSupport hashtag, on social media platforms.

The Result

The activation launched on 25 June at Montecasino and masses of people (even some local celebrities) arrived at the properties to write their positive words of encouragement for the Boks. Fans were able to visit the properties and participate for weeks after the launch, and it proved to be a fantastic way for us to build up to the Springboks’ departure.

Boktown Competition

With Tsogo Sun as the Springboks’ official accommodation partner, they asked us to design a competition that would draw attention to their partnership. Furthermore, to add to the competition’s appeal, Tsogo Sun were prepared to pull out all the stops in order to offer an incredible prize that would make every Springbok supporter feel the need to enter.

The Solution

Boktown Competition

The competition prize included accommodation at the Palazzo Penthouse, Castle Lager beer for a year, a chauffeur-driven trip to the World of Beer, R10,000 in spending on Montecasino’s account, an official Asics 2015 Springbok replica jersey, and VIP treatment at Montecasino BokTown – to be enjoyed by the winner and five of his/her friends.

 

The multifaceted prize was something that all fans desired, so we asked them to share their fiery passion for the Springboks with us in the form of a selfie. We encouraged them to share it with Tsogo Sun via Twitter or Facebook—using the #BokSupport hashtag in order to enter the competition—which dramatically increased online interaction with the brand.

The Result

Fans jumped at the chance to win such an incredible prize, and there was plenty of activity on our social media pages as the entries flooded in. Fans were made aware of Tsogo Sun’s partnership with the Boks, they got to show the world how much they love their team, and we were able to award a die-hard Springbok supporter with an incredible and unforgettable prize.
