Sasol Techno X

Back in 2022, Sasol gave us the opportunity to help inspire the next generation of innovators by tasking us with the conceptualisation and branding of their Techno X exhibition.

South Africa’s Leading Science and Technology Expo

Organised annually by the Sasol Foundation, Techno X is South Africa’ premier science and technology expo - an immersive, hands-on experience designed to ignite curiosity and inspire young minds.   

The event showcases vast career opportunities within the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), inviting learners to explore the future through interactive tours, live demonstrations, expert talks and engaging workshops.

In 2002, Techno X evolved into a hybrid experience - going virtual for the first time to expand its reach. This shift brought science, technology, engineering, arts, mathematics and innovation (STEMI) into homes, classes and workplaces across South Africa and beyond, breaking down barriers and opening a world of possibilities for the next generation for change makers.

Our Approach

We set out to develop an exhibition theme that would spark curiosity and excitement among learners, one that captured the playful, hands-on journey into the world of STEM. The positioning line we crafted serve as both a creative and strategic anchor, helping to connect the educational intent with an engaging, future-facing narrative.

Visually, the branding brought this concept to life by balancing Sasol’s CI with vibrant, imaginative elements. Futuristic devices and classroom scenes featuring students in active discovery reinforced the theme, positioning science and technology as both accessible and aspirational.

Brand Positioning

Students who are free to explore are inspired to create and that creativity equips them with the tools to shape the future.

Aligned with the overarching theme of the expo, our aim was to extend the reach of Sasol Techno X further than ever before. At the heart of our approach was a focus on human connection - positioning the expo as a platform that fosters youth-driven innovation, growth, creativity, and curiosity. By creating a space where aspiring minds could explore, experiment, and engage, we helped cement Techno X as a launchpad for the next generation of thinkers, doers, and change-makers.

Teacher’s Conference

The objective of the conference is to engage with all contexts of technical high school teaching and learning and articulation to higher education, world of work, community colleges and informal education.
